A Gospel Appeal

My friends, do not be deceived, those who are hoping to be saved by their lawkeeping are under the curse of God, for no one can keep the law. This is why Scripture states that in the giving of Christ to be the perfect sacrifice, God did not spare Him from, wrath, reproach, and the cross itself. “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” (Rom 8:31-32).

A Remarkable Story of God’s Providence

God is in no way obligated to do so, but in His infinite mercy, love, and wisdom toward His own, sometimes He pulls back an edge of the curtain and reveals a small portion of His purposes in providence. Just one month after I was saved in 1972, I sat in the front row of Peninsula Bible Church, Palo Alto, CA for the evening service. Little did I know that the speaker would be Corrie Ten Boom, speaking on God’s providence in her life under Nazi persecution. I will never forget her illustration. She held up the back side of a needle point stitching through much of her talk. Colored threads went every direction with no discernable pattern. Only at the end of her message did she show us the front, it was the image of a beautifully sown crown of blue and gold and maroon.

“To avoid Christ at any point in the academic pursuit is to be misled, untruthful, and spiritually dead” (Greg Bahnsen). (i) One must be presuppositionally committed to Christ in the world of thought or else, by default be deluded by persuasive argument (Col 2:8). All ‘Life View’ thoughts and philosophies fall into one of two categories: obedience or captivity, as the Apostle Paul states: “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ” (Col 2:8).
